Exeter's first commercial water supply took the form of the "Exeter Aqueduct". The aqueduct, first used in 1801, brought water to the village through hollow logs from springs near Lincoln Street. The Exeter Water Works Company worked to improve Exeter's quality of water. In October 1886 the company was ready to offer water service to the town. This is a picture of the facility in 1886. The building to the right in this picture is still used today.
